Maximilian’s route
(guided tours only)
Maximilian’s route is a tourist route that presents baroque salons, including the beautiful Maximilian’s Hall. We can admire rococo interiors of the White Salon and Green Salon and next, after going through the enfilade, the Chinese Salon, Games Salon and Italian (Baroque) Salon. The castle’s corridor leads us to a mysterious “stone of happiness” from where, descending the Black Stairs and going through the knight’s tavern, we enter the castle’s terraces where we can find numerous beauty spots, fountains and sculptures. We continue the tour by visiting the Chestnut Terrace and then the vineyard, finally reaching the Honour Courtyard.
Sightseeing time: about 30 minutes.
“Following the mysteries of the Second World War” route
(only guided tours)
It is a new tourist route in our offer which enables visitors to get to know a mysterious conversion of the castle being a part of “Riese” (“Giant”) project. The tour starts in the most beautiful baroque part of the castle. Next, we enter the oldest gothic part of the castle that underwent the most extensive alteration during the Second World War. Here the visitors can see mysterious lifts, rooms which underwent partial alternations and brick reinforcements. Winding concrete stairs lead to the upper story of the castle. There we go through the ballroom and the Hunting Foyer to the Conrad’s Hall from where the Black Stairs lead us to the terraces. The terraces offer visitors another attraction, which is an entrance to drifts covered with concrete that were sank during the Second World War.
Sightseeing time: about 70 minutes.
The Tower
(only as an additional route for sightseeing with a guide, groups of 6 or more visitors)
Entering the castle’s tower with a panoramic view over the Sudetes and the region is another attraction. The tower is the best beauty spot in the area. When air is clear the visibility is as far as 100 kilometres in a straight line.
Underground Tunnel
(guided tours only, additionally with Maximilian’s route or Bolek’s route, groups of 6 or more visitors)
Another attraction is sightseeing of drifts covered with concrete dating back to the war. They constitute a part of an air-raid shelter which was sank 15 metres under the Honour Courtyard during the World War II by the paramilitary organization of Frantz Todt. The air-raid shelter has all the hallmarks of military fortification. A part of the tunnel (96 metres long, 1,5 metres wide and 2,5 metres high) is made available for visitors.
Terraces
(terraces are a part of tourist routes, however, it is possible to visit them separately)
From May to October, 11 terraces in the south-west part of the castle are opened for visitors.
Individual sightseeing
Visitors can also sightsee the castle without a guide, following plates showing sightseeing directions. For individual sightseeing the chambers constituting Bolek’s route are offered.
