Canarian Ivy is an evergreen vine that grows to 20-30 metres in length. The shiny green leaves, growing up to 15 cm. long, have a red petiole. On barren stems, the leaves have indistinct lobes, whereas they are narrow and usually whole on blooming stems. The flowers are small and greenish-yellow. The fruit is a black drupe. In countries with a mild maritime climate, it is used as a ground cover and as a climbing plant. In climates like Poland’s, it is suitable only for growing in greenhouses or as a potted plant.
