Philodendron elegans

English name: Philodendron elegans

Latin name: Philodendron elegans

Family: Arum - Araceae

Origin: Columbia

This philodendron is an epiphyte growing on the trunks and branches of trees. The stems are thick, dark green and provided with aerial roots. The leaves are leathery and shiny. The blades grow up to 53 cm. in length. The leaves, deeply lobed almost to the nerve root, give the plant a light, open appearance. The petioles are long, with a soft texture, and grow with clearly marked nodes. The internode may reach a length of 15 cm. Like other species in this family, it bears flowers that are clustered in flask-shaped spathes.
