1784 - Prince Stanisław Poniatowski (nephew of King Stanisław Augustus)

1784 - Prince Stanisław Poniatowski (nephew of King Stanisław Augustus)

Advisor to the Permanent Council of 1780; member of the Targowica Confederation; a Maltese Knight of the Catholic Grand Priory in Russia (1797); long-serving member of the Sejm (Polish Parliament); after 1776, a member of the National Commission of Education; a member of the National Education Commission, and a member of the Four-Year Sejm from 1788. Although it would require a great deal of space to list all this aristocrat’s titles, it is worth noting that he founded an art school in Warsaw, and collected a world-renowned collection of paintings, sculptures and cameos at his residence in Rome, as well as an important part of Stanisław Augustus’ archive. Among his notable works is his Diariusz podróży w roku 1784 w kraje niemieckie przedsięwziętej (1784 Travel Diaries in the German lands), in which he describes his travels; he visited Książ in the same year.
